For the player, crossbow is WAY better than the bow. Yeah the "dps" is lower, but you can go to cover, ready the shot and peep out just like Call of Duty lol. Especially in sieges, the ready shot is way more useful than having to prepare an arrow shot while the target on the wall might move into cover themselves.

I prefer archers just bc the battles can go on for awhile with reinforcements so every extra arrow helps. They’re also pretty mobile if you want to get some nasty flanks.
